Powell, Dave & Rachael

– subscription plan available

Dave and Rachael, originally from Michigan, have been serving with SAM since 1981 in a variety of roles. They began their field missionary career working with the Ashaninka people in Mazamari, Peru. Their ministry location changed to Pucallpa where they served for many years in discipleship, Bible education, and leadership development. Also, during that time, Dave served as the Peru Field Director for a while. Rachael, a nurse, had an impact for Christ in hospitals throughout Pucallpa. After a recent return to minister directly among the Ashaninka, health reasons required a change of their living location to Virginia, USA.

Still assigned to the Peru Field, Dave and Rachael make periodic trips to Peru for ministry purposes. They teach the Word, disciple, and participate in field leadership. Their ministry now includes a more mission-wide focus. Dave serves as an Indigenous Advocate, especially for the Ashaninka people of Peru. They both pour into the lives of new missionary candidates, sharing their experiences of God’s faithfulness through their years on the field. Additionally, Rachael helps to review, revise, and develop some processes for SAM’s personnel department that benefit the missionary community as a whole.
