Heartbeats of Hope—a crisis pregnancy center—formed out of a partnership of seven churches in Pucallpa, Peru. We exist to evangelize and counsel women who are facing crisis pregnancies in order to prevent abortion and offer a new life of hope found only in a relationship with Jesus Christ. We reach out to all women who are facing crisis pregnancies, providing them with accurate information about their choices, conveying the importance of the sanctity of human life, promoting purity/abstinence among the youth and singles, and counseling women who are post-abortive, using each opportunity to share His love.
Heartbeats of Hope is only the 7th crisis pregnancy center in the entire country of Peru (population 30,000,000) and the first in the jungle region. With proper volunteer training, strategic promotion, instructional resources for clients and some basic necessities for young mothers, we can help to literally save lives and impact young families as we care for them in the love, grace and mercy of Jesus Christ.
Although illegal, abortions are performed all the time. It is said that more than 1,000 abortions are performed each day in Peru, often at the risk of the mothers’ lives. Promiscuity and teen pregnancy are common, and STD’s are on the rise in Pucallpa. There are many single-mother homes and most of these women live in poverty due to the fact that they never finished their education. Many women find themselves in unhealthy, abusive relationships but are too scared to seek help.
