Victoria Eilers was born and raised in Newport News, VA. She heard the gospel at a young age but it wasn’t until later in life that she made the commitment to follow Christ. Her home church, Denbigh Baptist Church, is praying for her spiritual growth and five month internship with South American Mission. It is their prayer and joyful expectation that she would glorify God by making disciples. In the past, Victoria has ventured on several short-term mission trips with LIFE youth group. It was through those experiences that God grew her passion for meeting new people, experiencing various cultures, and extending God’s love toward others.
After graduating from Thomas Nelson Community College in May 2017 with an Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts, she decided to take online classes through Liberty University and explore the realm of teaching. This fall, Victoria is serving as the art teacher at Denbigh Baptist Christian School, a ministry of her home church. She enjoys creativity in several forms such as drawing, painting, singing, writing poetry and short stories.
When taking the first step of filling out a preliminary application for South American Mission, she was asked “in what field or type of ministry are you interested?” Victoria was not sure of what she wanted to do specifically and so listed her natural abilities, passions, and what she believed her spiritual gifts to be. She then entrusted God to choose a suitable task. It is only fitting that teaching art at Santa Cruz Christian Learning Center in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, was the task chosen for her. She is humbled and amazed that God has provided the opportunity for her to use her passions, spiritual gifts, and natural abilities as a platform for the gospel of Jesus Christ.
