Bill and Joy Carrera are JAARS/Wycliffe personnel on loan to SAM Peru since August of 2013. Previously they worked with Wycliffe Bible Translators in Brazil for 15 years where their three children were born: William (20) currently at Wheaton College, Cullen (18) currently studying at Taylor University, and Camilla (13) who is with them in Peru.

Bill is a junior and senior high school math teacher. He also enjoys teaching geography and history. He is also the principal at SAM Academy in Pucallpa.

Joy is a pilot and mechanic and flight coordinator for SAMAIR. She graduated from Moody Aviation in 1995 and has more than 3000 flight hours.

Bill and Joy have been working with the SAM ministries in Peru for the past 7 years. This past year God brought them through a difficult season where Joy underwent surgery and a year’s worth of immunotherapy treatments for cancer. They are grateful that God brought them back to the mission field this past November 2020.
