Adam grew up in Arvada, Colorado, and now calls Fort Collins home while attending Colorado State University. Hillside Community Church in Golden shaped his faith from a young age, and he continues to grow through a strong church community and campus ministry in Fort Collins. That foundation is leading him to take this next step…a summer missions internship in Peru.

His first call to missions came at CROSS Conference in Kentucky, which he attended with a group of college students from Overland, his church in Fort Collins. The conference centered on global missions. While there, Adam realized that he knew very little about missions and had not explored it at all. Hearing missionaries’ stories inspired him, and he also gained a greater understanding of the church’s role in being goers and senders of missionaries to the nations. Adam did not want to write himself off as a goer or sender so he decided to spend the summer serving and seeking God’s call to the international mission field.

Adam first learned about SAM through a staff leader at his campus ministry, Oaks International. As he explored opportunities for a summer internship, God made the path clear, opening doors with SAM. Even Adam’s current boss fully supported him taking a summer to explore missions.

This summer, Adam will serve in Pucallpa, the last reachable city by road before the start of the jungle, where many Indigenous communities are located. With over 310,000 residents, Pucallpa is a vibrant jungle city that serves as a gateway to the Amazon and the hub for SAM operations within the country. Living and working alongside seasoned missionaries, Adam will explore diverse ministries, including ESL, children’s ministry, youth ministry, sports outreach, ministry to the elderly, and evangelistic outreach programs.

SAM’s first missionaries in Peru traveled up the Amazon River to Iquitos in 1926 and began ministering to the unreached people groups of the Ucayali River basin. Today, SAM’s ministries include SAM Academy (1st-12th school for missionary kids), SAMAIR, Latidos de Esperanza (Heartbeats of Hope) Pregnancy Center, and Refugio de Esperanza (school for individuals with disabilities).

Adam’s excited to see God at work in Peru, immerse himself in Peruvian culture, and grow deeper in his walk with Christ. He hopes this experience will expand his heart for missions, strengthen his Spanish, and help him discern God’s next steps for his life. With the conviction that “God is worth anything and everything,” Adam is stepping forward in faith, ready to learn, serve, and trust Him more.
