Orcutt, Jeff & Kathy

Jeff and Kathy joined SAM in 1987. Two years later, they arrived in Santa Cruz, Bolivia with their four kids in tow. Initially, they went with the idea of serving at the Santa Cruz Christian Learning Center (SCCLC). They soon shifted their focus to church planting and leadership training.

The Orcutts knew the Lord wanted them to serve the Bolivian Church. Teaching God’s Word at The PalMar Bible Center gave them the opportunity to teach and disciple young men and women who wanted to serve God as pastors and leaders in the church.

During their early days, Jeff and Kathy spent time learning more Spanish, understanding SAM’s ministry in the area, and listening to the experiences of older missionaries. This helped them understand the history of church planting in Bolivia and build on their predecessors’ accomplishments.

The couple started a puppet ministry, which enabled them to share the gospel with people of all ages. They also led “Summer Teams” that preached the gospel in many towns and villages throughout Eastern Bolivia. They even shared the gospel on many military bases.

In 1997, Jeff and Kathy returned to the US to serve with SAM’s Home Office in Lake Worth, FL, where they learned about the other side of SAM’s ministry. They served there until 2007, when the office relocated to Fort Mill, SC.

Today, the Orcutts continue to serve the Bolivian Church. They make yearly trips to Bolivia and some to Peru to come alongside the church. They stay in contact with a group of pastors they trained many years ago, who became dear friends.

Their ministry is inspired by Acts 14:21-22. And when they had preached the gospel to that city and made many disciples, they returned to Lystra, Iconium, and Antioch, strengthening the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith…

They are grateful to be a small part of the many years of SAM in Bolivia!
