Melissa currently serves as SAM’s Mobilization Director, actively engaging SAM’s network in recruitment and overseeing training and onboarding for new missionaries. She lives in Charlotte, NC with her husband Chris.

Chris and Melissa met at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA during their undergraduate studies. When Melissa graduated, she served with SAM as a secondary English teacher in Santa Cruz at the Santa Cruz Christian Learning Center. Chris visited her during her year of service and caught the vision for ministry in Bolivia. They were both excited to return to the region that captured their hearts after they married in 2013.

The Weissenbergers served together in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, as teachers and mentors at the SCCLC in 2015-2017. They worked to see God glorified in the hearts of students so that their families and community were transformed through God’s love. Melissa was a high school literature teacher and student government founder. Chris served in technology systems, photography, videography and graphic design, and in their second year he volunteered as the school’s youth pastor.
