Our goal is to see communities transformed by the gospel. When we think about community activity and interaction, we acknowledge the role that sports plays within Latin America. People already gather regularly to participate in local soccer games and watch international soccer on the TV in the local restaurants. The opportunity to engage with community members through their passion for sports exists throughout Latin America and we are excited to reach communities for Christ in this way.
Colombia: Church-planting and Children’s ministry
We are looking to form a church-planting team for Barranquilla, Colombia. This project is in partnership with TEAM (the Evangelical Alliance Mission), who is already working alongside a Colombian couple. The context of ministry in Barranquilla is the middle and upper class. This Colombian team needs a missionary couple or single dedicated to establishing a church while carrying out and developing a baseball or basketball ministry to youth and children.
We are also looking for a volunteer to serve with Fundación Comunidad Viva in Bogota. This dynamic ministry engages with the neighborhoods of Bogota through organic house churches and outreach ministries. One of these is their SuperVacas VBS program. The Fundación is in need of a missionary to run regular sports events with the children and youth. Ideally, this missionary would also work with Escuela Integral Deportiva Vida Nueva (New Life Holistic Sports School) which uses local soccer clubs for kids at risk to build discipleship processes leading to a fuller life in Christ.
