The phrase, “First of All, Pray!”, inspired by 1 Timothy 2:1, is the name of our prayer ministry. It reflects the prominence of prayer within our community. It’s been a mark of our Mission for more than 100 years. The mark remains. First of all, pray—deliberately, intentionally, and in faith, with praise and thanksgiving.


SAM’s Ministry Residency Program and Summer Internships February 7th, 2024

SAM’s onboarding manager, Ellen Adkins, will visit several college campuses over the next few weeks to share about SAM. In particular, she will be sharing about SAM’s new ministry residency program and summer internships. Pray that she connects with the right students and campus leaders and that they are receptive and open to how the Lord might call them. The internship is a six-week program this summer in Peru. The residency is a year-long US-based program starting in August. We are looking for six residents.

Pray for her time at CIU, Anderson, USC, Clemson, and North Greenville University.


SAMAIR Bolivia February 5th, 2024

Praise! We have been praying as SAMAIR Bolivia has been working diligently to get the Cessna 206 airworthy. There have been significant setbacks with government paperwork and parts stuck in customs. But we are resubmitting the necessary paperwork in the new digital system, and an important part was recently released from customs. Praise God for the progress so far, and pray that the SAMAIR team stays encouraged as they persevere.

 


Oral Bible Storying Workshop in Peru February 2nd, 2024

In November, SAM member Mike Anderson participated in an oral Bible storying workshop with pastors of a local Indigenous community in Peru. The pastors are developing an oral curriculum for their Bible institute. They spent several days poring over the details of the story of the Fall and translating it into the Shipibo language. 

One pastor commented that although he had studied at Bible school before, studying theological principles in context through stories allowed him to understand better the principles and how they fit together in God’s Story. 

Pray for Mike and the pastors as they have another workshop this month to continue the translation.


Pastor Meison Missly January 31st, 2024

We are praying for pastors in January!

Meison is the pastor of Iglesia Evangelica Misionera Divino Redentor in Pucallpa, Peru. He is passionate about church members having growing, intimate relationships with God by studying God’s Word, developing a discipline of prayer and obedience to the Holy Spirit, and imitating Jesus in obedience and fulfilling the Great Commission. He and his wife Gladys have been married for 38 years. They are grateful for their three grown sons, all involved in ministry and church. Please pray for Pastor Meison and Iglesia Evangelica Misionera Divino Redentor.


Pastor Alexis Gonzalez January 29th, 2024

We are praying for pastors in January!

Alexis serves as pastor/administrator at the Mil Palmeras Church in Pucallpa. Praise the Lord for new believers who were baptized in the last year. Pray that they would be discipled well. Pray for Pastor Alexis as he and the church leadership look for ways to reach out to the neighborhoods around the church’s new location to share the Gospel effectively.


Wayuu pastors in Colombia January 26th, 2024

We are praying for pastors in January!

Pray for the leaders of ASPEWA (The Association of Wayuu Evangelical Pastors) that represent nine denominations, hundreds of churches and communities, and thousands of believers, as they pursue the ultimate goal of reaching all the Guajira (area of northern Colombia) with the gospel (perhaps up to a million Wayuu). 

Pray for the ten recent graduates of CENFOW, the 3-year Wayuu Bible Institute. These graduates are now seeking to pastor in their communities. 


Indigenous pastors in Colombia January 24th, 2024

We are praying for pastors in January!

The Network of Indigenous Evangelical Leaders of Colombia (RELIEC) is led by Alfredo (Nasa), Luis (Misak), Ismael (Wiwa), and Diego (Arhuaco). Pray for these men as they seek to spread the gospel, strengthen the Church, and lead pastors amongst the Indigenous throughout Colombia. 

Pray for the numerous pastors and missionaries amongst the Indigenous in Colombia who serve their own people and other people groups for the love of the Father!

Edimar, Elenildo, Izaque, Zico (graduates of Ammi Training Center), and Esdras (partner of Ammi) are pastors in Brazil. Please pray Ephesians 3:16-19 for them,  their families, and churches.

“I pray that out of his glorious riches, he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.”

Pastor Carlos Vera January 17th, 2024

We are praying for pastors in January!

Carlos Vera is the pastor of the Deaf church at Refugio de Esperanza (The Refuge of Hope), a ministry and school for individuals with disabilities in Pucallpa, Peru. Carlos is also a Deaf teacher at Refugio with SAM member Amanda McKinney. Please pray for Pastor Carlos and his congregation.
