Holiday Gift Guide: Supporting Missionaries who are overseas for the holidays

“I’ll be home for Christmas…” But what is home to a missionary who has dedicated their life to embracing and investing in a new culture to share the love of Christ?

The holidays can be a time of incredible ministry opportunity, sharing cultural traditions from home while learning what makes the holidays special to the new culture.

However, holidays are also most often the time when missionaries experience the most homesickness – missing time spent with family and their home church, being far from the traditions and rhythms that always made the holidays feel special.

The holidays present a unique opportunity supporters to pursue and encourage the missionaries they have sent. Be it simply including the missionary in your Christmas card mailing list or sending a care package to them, there are so many ways to reach out and show that you care. We’ve put together a “gift catalog” full of unique ways to encourage your missionary in the upcoming holiday season.

Please note, while surprises are always fun, oftentimes they can be more stressful when dealing with overseas logistics. Please always check with your missionary about the best way to send items, or ask about their actual needs and wants before sending them something that might slightly miss the mark – they’d love to hear from you!
