Who We Are
An abiding, loving, redemptive, suffering and growing community to whom people say:
Let us go with you, for we have heard God is with you.” Zechariah 8.23
What We Long To See
Dynamic churches multiplied across South America that transform local communities and the world as they embody the Kingdom of God.
How We Will Participate
By God’s grace and power we will:
- Live as redeemed children of God
- Reproduce authentic disciples of Jesus
- Multiply dynamic churches and church networks
- Train godly leaders
- Enable transformational initiatives.
We state it emphatically as our way of being. The commitment to living out our redemption also guides our concerted way of doing. By the true living out of our redemption in Christ, we discover just how we will participate in building for the vision God has set before us.
“Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children, and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.” (Eph 5: 1-2)
After all, this is what Jesus commissioned us to do, to go and make disciples of all nations (Matt 28:18- 20). It’s more than proclaiming Jesus; at the heart of discipleship is revealing Jesus to others by living life together. It’s another person’s transformation achieved through Jesus revealed in our bodies. Jesus set the standard for how to make disciples when he said to Simon and Andrew, “Come, follow me.” (Matt 4:19), an invitation to learn and grow by being present with Jesus.
The Church is God’s chosen and ordained vehicle to redeem a people for His Glory. The manifold wisdom of God will be made known through the Church (Eph 3:10). The Church is the pillar and foundation of the truth (1 Tim 3:15). We center our activity there, on communities of the redeemed growing and flourishing. And we center our sights there, on the horizon where the communities of South America are transformed and transforming because of the beautiful, engaging presence of God’s people.
We believe South America will be won to Christ by South Americans. For this reason, we place great emphasis on local, contextualized leadership training that develops men and women grounded in truth and in living a life worthy of the calling received from God in Christ (Eph 4:1).
“Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith.“ (Hebrews 13:7)
Long-term spiritual and cultural transformation comes as churches carry the very presence of Christ—and demonstrate his grace, love and mercy—to a dying world. It’s about the communities of the redeemed in the world stepping out to be the hands and feet of Jesus, “the fullness of him who fills everything in every way”. (Eph 1:23)
“You are the light of the world.….let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Matt 5:14-16)
The ministry of South America Mission flows from what we believe about God and his creation. As an interdenominational mission, missionaries come from diverse, evangelical denominational backgrounds and serve together in biblical unity. Our team affirms together the following truths of the faith.
