Peru 2026 Interns

Interns in Peru serve alongside long-term missionaries in a wide range of ministries. Interns engage in Indigenous and river communities, urban outreach, SAM Academy, and SAMAIR aviation. Along the way, interns gain an inside look at everyday missionary life through hands-on service, shared community, and intentional spiritual formation. As they serve, they see firsthand how God is at work across Peru. Each internship supports ongoing ministry while also inviting interns to learn, listen, and serve with open hearts. At the same time, interns actively discern God’s call on their lives.

Noah Braaksma:

Noah Braaksma was born and raised in the small town of Randolph, Wisconsin (population 1,762), and spent his formative years in nearby Waupun, Wisconsin, a community of around 11,000 people. He grew up in a Christian household, but it wasn’t until around the age of 20 that he began taking his faith in Jesus seriously.

After graduating, Noah pursued a career and apprenticeship in the electrical field and currently works as an electrician in Wisconsin. Over the past several years, as he has grown closer to Christ, Noah has felt a strong call to ministry. This calling has led to the launch of a young adults ministry at his church and a growing surrender of his life to wherever the Lord may lead.

Influenced by faithful men of God and guided by the Lord Himself, Noah has developed a deep heart for international missions. After experiencing a glimpse of this calling through ministry in Jamaica, he now feels ready to step further into what God is doing in Peru.

Through this internship, Noah hopes to learn more about international ministry and ministry as a whole. He prays that this season will bring greater clarity about where God is leading him, both in ministry and in life.

Tyler Trauger and Levi Hoover:

Tyler is from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and is a member of Neffsville Mennonite Church.

This summer, Tyler will have the opportunity to serve as a ministry intern in Pucallpa, Peru. After visiting Peru previously with his youth group, he saw how meaningful it is to build relationships, serve others, and share the love of Christ. That experience inspired him to return and continue serving. He looks forward to growing in his faith and learning more about serving others.

Levi is a member of Neffsville Mennonite Church in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

This summer, Levi will serve as an intern in Pucallpa, Peru. Last year, his youth group traveled to Pucallpa to serve the community and spend time with children from the surrounding area. The trip changed his outlook on life and gave him a strong desire to help others and to share God’s Word with those who have not yet heard it. Levi believes God is calling him to take this next step in his journey of faith. Since his visit last year, his faith has grown tremendously, and he looks forward to continuing to grow closer to God both spiritually and personally during this internship.

Tyler and Levi are raising prayer and financial support to make this trip possible. Your prayers and support are greatly appreciated.

Joel Reasoner:

Joel was born and raised in the small town of Kouts, Indiana—a community surrounded by cornfields, known for its annual Pork Festival. Growing up with his parents and two older sisters, Joel spent his entire life in Kouts. He is now the last remaining child at home as he begins his first year of studies in construction management at Purdue Northwest.

Joel has been blessed with the opportunity to travel to four different countries, including several mission trips that have profoundly impacted his life. While he felt a tug toward missions over the last two years, he initially brushed it aside. However, this past year brought a significant realization, leading him to take that calling more seriously. Following much prayer and a transformative experience at SAM Peru’s “Journey of Calling” field conference, Joel decided to commit to a summer mission experience. He views this internship as a vital next step to explore God’s plan for his future. During his time in Peru, Joel hopes to deepen his understanding of God’s calling on his life and grow in areas of spiritual maturity that push him out of his comfort zone, all while sharing the love of Christ with those he encounters.
