Yes, we need skills. But, moreover, we need hearts transformed by Jesus. We seek interns ready to serve and who desire a deeper understanding of God’s work in Latin America. During your internship, you’ll gain an understanding of SAM’s vision, mission, and identity while experiencing hands-on ministry and real exposure to missionary life. As you serve alongside us and a new culture, you’ll draw closer to the heart of Jesus.
Ideal for young people (ages 18-25) looking to understand God’s call on their life, internships vary in duration, cost, and ministry focus. We construct internships to maximize the personal and spiritual growth of each intern and support the ongoing work of our long-term missionaries. We also coordinate with universities to fulfill credit requirements where it aligns with our ministry.
SAM sets a budget for each internship and provides training in effective support-raising techniques. You’ll raise your support through SAM, where all donations are tax-deductible.

Internships range from $5,000-7,000 depending on the location.
Yes, this is a support-raised internship. Don’t worry; we’ll provide you with the tools needed to raise support from your own community and network.
Support raising isn’t a pre-ministry task; it’s an integral part of the journey! Once accepted into the internship, we set up your online donation portal, provide training on effective support-raising techniques, and schedule regular check-in calls to monitor your progress.
While raising support may seem daunting, it’s also an opportunity to witness God’s faithfulness and provision. It’s a chance to invite others to join in the incredible work the Lord is doing worldwide.

Yes! Our internship begins with an orientation at our Home Office in Fort Mill, SC.
We work with you directly to determine if this internship matches your academic needs. Please contact our Mobilization Director (mobilization@southamericamission.org) to discuss your school’s internship requirements.
While a basic background in Spanish or Portuguese is helpful, it is not a requirement for this internship.
