How to Get Started

Remember, we are not looking for perfect people. We are serving a perfect God! No matter how God leads, we want each applicant to know Christ more deeply through this process. We also want to experience God’s grace together as we see how He uses imperfect people to accomplish His perfect purposes.

1. Let’s Talk

Start by submitting our Let’s Talk form. Our mobilization team will connect with you to hear more about your story and your heart for God’s work in Latin America.

2. Apply

Is the Spirit still tugging at your heart? The application stage dives deeper into the facts about you. You’ll share your story, your faith, your hopes for a relationship with a mission organization, and even provide a theological defense. We’ll also ask for references from those who’ve witnessed God working in your life.

3. Contact Your Church

Next, we’ll reach out your pastor or other spiritual elder. We believe that involving the local church is a critical part of sending missionaries. If your church is excited about your proceeding, we’ll move on to the next step.

4. Candidate Orientation

This step in the process leads to appointment as an Associate (mid-term) or Member (long-term) missionary. You’ll spend time at our US Office, learning about SAM’s vision and work, and worshiping and growing in community with us. It’s a time of decision… but also a time of celebration.

5. Prepare and GO

Support-Raising: SAM missionaries, interns, and residents raise full support for their salary and ministry. We’ll walk with you from building a budget to watching God provide.

Pre-Field Training: You’ll receive cross-cultural training, language learning, and guidance on things like visa applications, navigating options for children’s education, and more.

GO: You’re fully funded! It’s time to purchase airline tickets, pack up, hug your family and friends…God has a place ready for you in Kingdom work!
