Please join us in giving thanks for the life and ministry of Pastor Leopoldo Scetti.
Originally from Argentina, Pastor Leopoldo came to Bolivia as a missionary after serving for several years in Peru. He and his wife, Maritza, have now spent many fruitful years in Bolivia, faithfully serving the Lord.
On June 12, Pastor Leopoldo turned 88–marking 70 years of ministry. He began serving as an assistant pastor in Argentina at age 18 and has remained in ministry ever since. Over the course of his service, he has helped plant three churches and revive a dying congregation.
His ministry has intersected with South America Mission in many ways. He was the first director of the CIET Institute in Santa Cruz, has been a key supporter of the AIEO Church Association (which originated through SAM-founded churches), served as pastor of La Restauración Church in Santa Cruz (with SAM’s HAuse family on his pastoral team), taught at evangelical universities, and was often called upon by the media to share an evangelical perspective on current events.
On June 15, La Restauración Church—now pastored by his son, Pablo—held a special service to honor his 70 years of ministry. He received recognition from the Bolivian Evangelical University, the AIEO Church Association, numerous individuals impacted by his life, and from South America Mission’s home office and Bolivia field.
We thank God for Pastor Leopoldo’s legacy of faithfulness, leadership, and Gospel witness across Latin America. Please pray for continued strength and encouragement for him and his family.
