Kathryn (Kat) Guild felt a call to missions as a teenager. Growing up in Charlotte, NC she was highly involved in music ministry in her local church. When Kat encountered the gospel in a personal way in high school, she experienced the joy of sharing her faith with others, which led her to serve several summers at WinShape camps, in Georgia and Costa Rica. Kat became involved with CRU at UNC-Chapel Hill, where she immersed herself in the Word of God through a gospel-centered community. Spending a semester studying abroad in Quito, Ecuador grew her love for the people of Latin America, the Spanish language, and solidified her call to international missions.

Kat joins the team in the city of Barranquilla, Colombia, a business hub and port city in the northwestern portion of Colombia along the Caribbean coast. Home to an estimated 2.6 million people, the opportunities for developing relationships leading to discipleship are endless. The team’s vision includes planting a church among the professional working class as well as redemptive ministry opportunities in serving the vulnerable and marginalized in the city. Kat uses her gifts of building authentic relationships and shares how the love of Christ continues to transform her life. Additionally, Kat serves alongside the Barranquilla team to build bridges with the Venezuelan refugee population in the city and foster excitement in the local church to support this vulnerable population.
