Michael was born into a Christian family in British Columbia and grew up in Arizona. Before college, he spent a year in Europe with the Torchbearers organization, deepening his faith and learning more about the Lord. He now lives in Bozeman, Montana, where he is pursuing a degree in finance.
His passion for missions began when he witnessed the impact even small acts of service can have on people’s lives. He has helped build three houses for families in Tijuana and looks forward to serving in Latin America again this summer. Michael will serve an eight-week missionary internship in Pucallpa, Peru. He will be involved in English classes, children’s ministry, and other outreach opportunities. God opened the door for this internship when a close friend and MK from Pucallpa, Peru, introduced him to South America Mission.
Pucallpa, a major jungle city with over 310,000 residents, serves as a gateway to the Amazon and the hub for many of SAM’s operations in Peru. SAM’s first missionaries in Peru traveled up the Amazon River to Iquitos in 1926, ministering to the unreached people groups of the Ucayali River basin. Today, SAM’s ministries in Pucallpa include SAM Academy (1st-12th school for missionary kids), SAMAIR, Refugio de Esperanza, and outreach to Indigenous communities.
Michael is eager to immerse himself in a new culture, share the gospel, and grow deeper in his relationship with God. He hopes this experience will strengthen his faith, challenge him to step outside his comfort zone and equip him to bring the lessons he learns in Peru into his everyday life. Partner with Michael today to enable his ministry participation and invest in his missions journey.
