Groves, Kennedy

From: $10 – subscription plan available

Kennedy grew up in Chattanooga, TN, and attended Concord Baptist Church. Throughout her childhood, Kennedy heard many stories about missionaries and felt called herself to become a missionary. Currently, she is studying at Bryan College, focusing on Bible Translation and Teaching English as a Second Language.

Through Bryan College’s ACTS Program, Kennedy will have the opportunity to put her studies into practice. This summer, she will serve as a missionary intern in Recife, an urban hub of 4 million people in Brazil’s northeast corner. Living and working alongside seasoned missionaries, she will work with Recife Redemptive Ministries, which includes Bible studies, community worship, English classes, food baskets, tutoring, computer training, plus a community center with music school.

Recife is a city with plenty of ocean, rivers, bridges, islands, and mangroves. In stark contrast to its natural beauty and vibrant culture, 80% of Brazil’s extremely poor live in Recife’s area of influence. Recife Redemptive Ministry responds to the needs encountered in its community and works to gather believers as the body together, demonstrating God’s heart for the impoverished.

Additionally, Kennedy will serve at the Ammi Training Center in Chapada dos Guimarães, Brazil. While there, she will participate in a Bible Translation workshop among 11 Indigenous tribes. She will serve in the logistics of hosting this workshop and be able to learn about the work involved in translating Scripture into another language. Located in the center of South America, Chapada dos Guimarães is the gateway to the Pantanal, the most extensive wetlands in the world.

Kennedy hopes to grow closer to God, learn more about herself, and discover new skills that will help her become a more effective ambassador for Christ. Partner with Kennedy today to enable her ministry participation and invest in her missionary journey!

    Ministry: Recife Redemptive Ministry

SAM missionaries, Craig and Mary Delille, walked through Frei Damião, a forgotten section of Dois Unidos, on the outskirts of Recife, Brazil, and knew right away their calling to provide adequate housing to replace the patch-work tin and tarp-covered homes in which many families were living.
